Thanks to Everyone For Attending. Here is the meeting Summary.

safety patrol
- decide how we want to go about handling the safety situation
- figure out the best way to go about informing visitors and guests of safety concerns
- discuss when and how you should approach a beginner and offer help / ask questions

not our responsibility due to liability issues.
promote safety, offer assistance to those that look like they mayu need it.
put up a listed bulletin with a set of guidlines for riding at the sandbar

There should be a notice or sign up explaining, that the sandbar is a kite beach,
and not a swim beach, informing families and/or children that they are really not
supposed to be swimming at the sandbar, unless that person is kiting as stated by
Port of Hood River Ordinance 22.

Janet offered to help out with getting a sign committee together, but many guidelines
and such have already been posted. We discussed getting a possible flyer handout at
the booth, but no one voluteered to spearhead this plan and talk to the Port about it.

Website changes
- Ideas for additions
- Should anything be removed?

just update the site

upcoming delta meeting
- what do the members / community want done with the sandbar during the off season?
- Talk about the possibility of a new Event site for windsurfers so kiters can have the old one

developing lot6 is important, but will take time
reshape delta for world class sailing
expand beach and river access and increasing rigging and launching areas was a major
priority and concern for the group.

Follow up: CGKA was in attendance at the delta planning meeting with the Port. The
general consensus was to work with mother nature and not fight her as to how the sandbar
will be shaped in the future. A division of seperation for rigging and launching between
kiting and windsurfing was generally agreed upon. As well as the idea to move some sand
from the western most tip of the sandbar and extend the Event Site launch a small amount
as well as possibly move sand to the west side of the west Event Site Pier and create
more river access. This is simply what was discussed at the meeting, and we hope to see
 it put into action.

BOD nominations
- make sure everyone is in the know about hte nominations system
- accept nominations
- possible discussion of BOD restructuring
- decide on a day to stop the nominations

nominations
Jim
Kirsten
Phil?
Cory
Tom?

jet ski rescues
- Maybe put up a notice on the website warning people to not expect a jet ski rescue
- discuss possible causes of the high number of jet ski rescues (not knowing how to self rescue, etc)
- and possible solutions to keep this number down
- any other points from people that bring jet skis to the sandbar want to add anything here?

Proper Riding Etiquette near Instructors giving lessons
- designated learning area on the sandbar for non-jetski lessons
- giving plenty of room to student / jet ski combinations

The area east of both the flat water pools on the sandbar is ideal for teaching. Using the
Northwestern most point of the sandbar to teach should only be done when there is a safe
distance between the student their kite and everyone else. If it is too crowded, then
teaching on the Northwestern most point may not be the best location.

Dog situation
- Basically just state that it is not the CGKA's responsibility to enforce the leash law.
Encourage everyone to follow the Ports rules regarding dogs.
- If anybody wants to bitch, i'll hear them out

some people felt that the dog situation had improved, other members were still concerned
with the fact that dogs still run around the western most edge of hte sandbar where many
people like to rig and launch their kites. At least no one else has been bit. We encourage
everyone to be a responsible dog owner. If you're going to let your dogs run loose dispite
the rules, please keep them away from areas that are highly congested with kites and people
rigging and launching.
